Sing Out Loud!

Friday at The Slow Bleed is the day we add a post that is inspirational in nature (the last post of the day) -- just to kick off your weekend with a positive note (no pun intended given this weeks choice).

This week, a classic but still one of my favorites. Paul Potts from Britain’s Got Talent.

Not bad for someone that worked in a store selling mobile phones!

I recently posted that video as well. It is a great example of having your head kicked after you have set your expectations so low (the judges). Paul is awesome!!

Pure poetry, made even more poignant by the words to the aria. At 1:43 he sings:

    Dilegua, o notte!

    Tramontate, stelle!

    Tramontate, stelle!

    All’alba vincero!

    Vincero, vincero!

    (Vanish, o night!

    Fade, stars!

    At dawn I shall win!)

    Indeed he did!

  7. Godfather says:

    Thanks for the translation Mespo!

Well this is the second time your site has made me cry. What’s up with that?

  9. Godfather says:

Yea 22, you can’t help but get misty eyed at that one!

Wow, Mespo, you’ve been on your toes ever since the Bella / Bello debacle.

You motivated me into getting in touch with my roots. I listened to Turandot (one of my favorite Puccini’s) and looked up the lyrics. Thought it might be appropriate here. I also screened Mario Lanza’s “Serenade” where this aria figures prominently. Potts is fantastic, but Mario still takes the prize. Must be my Italian showing.

    Bel Canto, indeed.

Well Binx, after posting that I had to fire up O Fortuna. Ok, ok, lame I know as it has been commercialized to no end – but I still love it!
