For some reason I failed to see my Green Bay Packers in the Superbowl. Perhaps it was just some sort of oversight.
I did catch Brett Favre on a Hyundai commercial – probably the only one that remotely made me chuckle.
For the last 5 years or so, the Superbowl commercials commanded more of my attention than the game itself. Yet last night, something was missing and I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. Oh yea, a good commercial.
I was disappointed. At a couple million per commercial slot, I expected more. Sure the old favorites were there…
eTrade – ok, the kid is getting older. But nothing new there – kind of getting creepy.
Toyota – apologizing for the recent recalls. Really? You are going to spend a couple million to remind people your cars currently suck?
Hyundai – Seemed the runaway winner in my book. The funny part is that Favre just may be playing in 2010.
Budweiser – Yet another “friend” in the pasture commercial? I get it. Move one to something better. Next year I suspect it will be a Clydesdale and a Turtle
Doritos – Really, that was your best shot?
So, who was your favorite?
Hey the first big Doritos commercial where teh kid smacks the guy who comes over to see his mom was pretty good…how it didn’t rate the top ten, I have no idea…..the beercan house….was totally unimpressive.
OK, I will give on the Doritos with the kid. After that…I am out!
Doritos with the little kid – I laughed
Farve ad – funny.
Rest – not funny, not memorable
I always end the super bowl ads the same way. Not remembering who the ads were for. If I were going to spend 2 mil on a single ad. I would make sure you remembered who I am.
