Ok, maybe not “doomsday” but the results will prove interesting when the Swiss fire up the Hadron Collider this August.

In a nutshell, Hadron is a ring of supercooled magnets (17 miles in circumference) attached to huge barrel-shaped detectors and buried 330 feet underground.
The goal is to hunt for signs of the invisible “dark matter” and “dark energy” that make up more than 95% of the universe. The Hadron could even find other dimensions.
The risk of turning this thing on?
Well, several scientists think the risk of catastrophic danger to our planet is only about one in 50 million – Hey wait, that is about the same odds as buying a lottery ticket.
That cracks me up, seeing as how many people play the lottery.

Yea, I wonder if the Swiss win a lot?
As an update..they fired it up, then it broke down.
I was banking on the whole “destroy the world” thing so unfortunately I slacked off that weekend not thinking I would have to write another blog – my bad.
