The fun never stops. Here is a clip from Bloomberg…
March 9 (Bloomberg) — U.S. stocks fell, extending the worst weekly slump in the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index since November, after Warren Buffett said the economy “has fallen off a cliff” and the World Bank predicted a global contraction.
“Fallen off a cliff?” Are you kidding me?! Has everyone taken a bunch of “we’re doomed” pills instead of their normal Viagra (or whatever)? Don’t’ get me wrong, I am fully aware of the current state of the economy, but comments like Buffett’s should not be thrown around lightly? “Why” you ask? Well, it wouldn’t be The Slow Bleed if I didn’t tell you…
In my opinion a lot stock market losses (of late) are simply a self-fulfilling prophecy. The European markets go down because they “think” the US market will go down. The US market opens down (surprise) because the European market (and Asian market) went down. And so the cycle continues. And than someone shoots off their mouth keeping the cycle going.
I am not looking for smoke and mirrors but…
People like Buffet and Obama forget their words have a significant impact on society. As of late we have seen Obama trying to be a bit more positive (apparently Buffet has not yet received the memo). Yes, it is tough out there. Yes, the banks are hurting from loans they never should have made in the first place, and yes, we are bailing out companies we never should have. Deal with it, but move on.
Part of the job (aka fame) description is to report accurate information but also try and be a positive motivator to others. “The Sky is Falling” tactic does not seem to be the best choice right now – perhaps we should try something else?
The fear mongering has been going on for quite some time now and escalated into full blown scare campaigns almost 8 years ago – ok, I’ll utter it *shivers* – on Sept. 11, 2001.
The sheeple are being rounded up. I’ve decided that this is why the tobacco campaign took on its vicious attacks over the last 5 years and each day brings more dire consequences……apparently the kool-aid doesn’t affect smokers as easily so we need to be denormalized and ostracized until we agree to comply.
OK, it’s a stretch, but it’s MY stretch and I’m sticking to it……………hehehehehe
Probably right Lynda…Yellow alert, no wait, orange alert, no wait green alert, wait, we don’t have green…back to yellow!
