		<description>Thanks Robert. For what it is worth, it is pretty much a consensus offshore drilling will not greatly effect the amount of oil we have in the US or the price.</description>

Oil reserves are the estimated amounts that can be recovered under normal conditions.



I believe the offshore is included in that figure. (As was the big Alaska North Slope discovery.) Since then, there has not been a sizable discovery (with the exception of the Bakken Formation in Montana which required horizontal drilling).



The estimate is that we could go three years without any foreign oil.



We apparently have enough oil shale for 100 years - and it is not considered part of the reserves.</description>

Why not drill anywhere there is oil. If there is enough here in the U.S.A. then we should access it.



Do we not drill here in case we are ever cut off from foreign supply.



Is this considered a part of our oil reserves?
