Airlines Pay $504M to Settle Price-Fixing Scam…

Hopefully you were not personally dealing with shipping cargo across the seas but chances are, your company was and as a consumer, you paid for it.

U.S. companies fell victim to what amounted to be one of the largest price-fixing scams in airline history. The biggest culprit so far? Air France-KLM

Oh, great, now the French are really getting on my nerves. Air France-KLM agreed to pay $350M (yes, that “M” means million) of the settlement. The other airlines were Cathay Pacific Airways, Martinair-Holland, and SAS Cargo Group

This was really slimy. The executives met repeatedly (in the US) and came up with price-fixing schemes such as raising cargo rates, fuel surcharges, and security costs for businesses and consumers. They focused on shipped goods to and from the U.S.

Previously British Airways, Korean Air, and Japan Airlines filled similar agreements as part of the investigation.

In a time when the U.S. is struggling financially our supposed allies are busy stealing from us in a consorted effort. It is time to stop aiding those countries, which are happy to take our money and business; but continue to fleece us when we are not looking.
