Yes Palin’s Daughter is Pregnant…Can We Move On Now?

First off, it is not rumor. Sarah Palin’s 17-year-old unmarried daughter (Bristol) is pregnant.

McCain insists he knew about this when he chose her for the VP spot in his campaign (I still wonder about that part). And, unless it was some bazaar sequel to Juno, the entire Palin family has been well aware of the situation.

Of course several groups (no, not just Democrats) are all over this suggesting she is no longer a good choice for VP.

Come on guys, you mean to tell me our individual character and work ethics will always be defined by our kids? If that is the case, we will never be able to elect a qualified person to office. What if your grandson is gay? What if you paper boy stole a cookie? What if your neighbor three doors down read an issue of Playboy? Where would the “association” end?

The opposition is always looking for reasons to attack the other party. In this case Sarah Palin’s daughter is now on the table. To Obama’s credit, he has stated that “family” is off-limits in the campaigns and will have no part in attacks on Palin’s character as a result of her daughter. But it seems to end at Obama as many religious groups are already in a voting quandary.

I say move on. Palin’s daughter is pregnant and it will be an issue for the family to deal with. I seriously doubt it will affect Sarah Palin’s ability to perform her duties. As always, let the candidates stand on their own merit.

I second that motion … let’s move on. Anyone actually discussing politics these days? :-)

  2. Mig Taylor says:

I would not back down on the question of Trig’s parentage just yet. There are two issues I find:

    1) First, governor Palin’s pregnancy was announced when, by her reckoning, she was 7 months pregnant, she delivered at 8 months. Other than one photo with a belly, there is no definitive proof she was pregnant. Certainly nothing like a prior pregnancy.

    2) A 44 year old multigravida travels across the continent with an aneusomic fetus, develops premature rupture of membranes, then gives a speech, then boards two flights with layover, then is driven to a rural hospital with no level III nursery (over twenty hour delay). If not false, then this is reckless and Sarah is a superwomen able to leap across continents while in labor and escape detection from stewardesses.

I want to see a maternity test checking Trig’s DNA with hers. If it is her son, he will have to match at least 50% of loci. If not, he will match around 25%. If not we will be electing a president at risk for blackmail, and involved in electoral fraud.

You know, Indians used to give birth, sometimes literally in the middle of an active battle, and were forced to move on immediately. Interestingly enough, there were no hospitals with Level III nursery, or expert medical care, other than the medicine man who smoked his pipe, did some funky JuJu, and everyone was A-OK….not comparing Palin with any Indian (excuse me, Native American) groups, but somehow, they are all human and capable of amazing things. Oh, and settlers did it as well, and ancient civilations somehow birthed kids in harsh conditions also. Hmmmm…..

That being said…WHO CARES??? Other than political pundits who have to justify their jobs every single day, and political operatives who pretty much have to do the same thing, I don’t see how any of it plays…legitimately anyways.

  4. mig taylor says:

Mike Lovell states that humanity gave birth for eons without hospitals with level III NICUs. That is true, however, this is USA and the year 2008, a responsible parent and a responsible doctor do not let a woman fly over 12 hours, or wait over 20 hours, after spontaneous premature rupture of membranes of an aneusomic gestation in a 43 yr old. Nor should they skip a hospital with a level III.

I care because the general picture seems to suggest that a 16-17 yr old gave up her child to be reared by her mother without assurance of free assent. I care because it was a fraud used to promote the view of Mrs. Palin as a superwoman, able to fly across continents in mid-labor without even a display of ouch, when the reality was far more mundane. I care because the ethical and honest thing to do would be to have acknowledged the pregnancy of a minor, and provided full support. This becomes an item of blackmail for a presidential candidate.

  5. Cat9438 says:

I think we need to move on. She has more experience in making decisions than Obama and McCain combined.

  6. In my experience…………experience isn’t always a good thing………..LOL

    sorry, I just couldn’t resist ;)

  7. Anomynous says:

    Cat 9436:

R U telling me, you are supporting her? Is there finally someone to understand why Obama is all empty words?

  8. Cat9436 says:

Well, it is a tough call. I really don’t Palin or Obama are qualified. Obama is pure motivation and Palin is, well, the Hockey Mom that keeps showing how little she actually knows.

Can we get some more choices please!

  9. anomynous says:

    You know Cat9943,

Palin and Obama are not the kind of thing you should compare. But my personal opinion is rather the tough hockey mom then the motivation that dosn’t know where it goes…

  10. Anonymous says:

Then again, Palin has yet to get a fact even close to being correct and appears to have some serious past performance issues.

  11. Cat9436 says:

I agree Anonymous. I would vote for her for PTA President, just not President or VP of the US!

  12. MitchellMadson says:

I am surprised Anonymous, the facts on Palin getting the better of you? They said the cool Hockey Mom persona would wear off…

  13. Anomynous says:

    OK,

YES! Palin is getting my better side. But for the HM thing, she is not going to wear it off because she has a life lasting expirience from that time. And she is (answering cat) a good joice also for VP because the “life lasting expirience” is what you will need in the white house (or: If you don’t know what your doing, you’ll probably fail anyway)

    So, why worry?

  14. anomynous says:

hey, where did all of you guys go? waiting for days…

(too busy watching the VP debate? sarah rocked! and here are the news: i don’t think biden is so bad after all but i just can’t decide for a person that disagrees with his running mate on kind of serious problems…)

  15. Millie says:

If by “sarah rocked” you mean she didn’t say anything stupid, I will agree with you. Godfather did a good job recapping and predicting the debate. She did dodge a lot of questions though.

  16. Civics Project says:

You have to look at the candidates’ choice of VP when you vote. Because McCain is in his 70’s, and Obama is black, there could be a good chance of the VP’s coming president. Palin doesn’t seem to know all of the answers, and Biden plagiorized(don’t mind spelling), both VP choices have faults. But so does every body else….Who do you think is more qualified?

    Palin or Biden

    McCain or Obama

    Or….do you like Ralph Nadar??

Godfather Added: Thanks for the comments. And that is the dilemma. I have new post on exactly this coming soon!
