Well this just doesn’t seem fair to post on a blog.
The American Journal of Psychiatry may be adding “internet addiction” in the next version of DSM (the U.S handbook of recognizing psychiatric conditions).
The condition is explained by excess use of the Internet, poor achievement, depression, or anger if Internet access is lost.
I sure hope this post downloaded quick enough for 10 million people…
This is so sad….It took something like 0.2 seconds for the page to come up instead of the normal .199 seconds….I think it’s tme to quit my job while contemplating burning down this whole apartment building….
On a more serious note..the DSM, all things included are merely voted in and have yet to pass any actual litmus test. And following suit, you have Big Pharma ready to help out with the next set of new pills to “correct” our problems. After all, you can’t be easily excitable, saddened, or wildly emotional at ANY point in time without it being a bonafide medical issue, can you?
My sister taught school in Florida, she had a student who had Oppositional Defiant Disorder…in other words, he just didn’t interact well with authority figures of any type, and tended to act up….Seems to me, we’d better medicate his mother who has Hyposparetherod-itis, which is commonly noted by the ability to make up excuses as to why it isn’t the childs fault, and he should be treated the same as the “normal” people.
.199?! Man, that is sooooo 2008! Plenty of medications for OCDD (I don’t have time to spell them out though!)
I dropped the “D” in OCDD…no time. I just go by OCD
Off Topic (or on in this case). The military needs more support…especially after they have served.
I’m hooked, I admit it.
Very Good Eric….only 11 more steps to go to be cured!! LOL
11?! Crud, I am way too far behind.
