Ok, now that the Hillary/Obama fight is just about over and Hillary is wondering why she stayed in this long; Obama will concentrate on picking a running mate.
So who will it be? Well, here is The Slow Bleed short list of choices I think he will pick from. If I am wrong, I suppose I could just edit the blog later
- Former Sen. John Edwards (NC)
- Sen. Hillary Clinton (NY)
- Gov. Bill Richardson (NM)
- Gov. Kathleen Sebelius (KS)
- Sen. Russ Feingold (WI)
- Sen. Jim Webb (VA)
- General Wes Clark (AR)
- Vice President Al Gore
- Sen. Chris Dodd (CT)
- Sen. Joe Biden (DE)
So, who is your favorite (or should I say “Who should he pick as a running mate?”)

My vote is for John Edwards. Al Gore would be great but I don’t think he’s interested.
I wonder if Al Gore would accept. Politicians have a habit of saying “oh no, I simply couldn’t” when in reality, they would. Edwards has already said the same thing…but we will see…
Everybody says “no” until the offer is really on the table…
Maybe the Slow Bleed would accept the number 2 spot.
Oh no…I could never accept…really….no…really…I just couldn’t…..:)
However, I probably would not play nice in the sandbox, would make some (ok, all) politicians really upset, and would have to use Air Force One to go for diet Pepsi’s.
On the positive side, I know I could avoid throwing up on any foreign dictators!
I bet Bush 1 said the same thing right up until… well, you know.
Honestly, I know the Clinton co-president thing is all the rage. But… “not gonna do it”. Clinton would bring lots of happy dems with her but Obama would appear weak.
I would say someone older, with lots of foreign policy experience, from a swing state. Anyone? Anyone?
Unfortunately, I think Bob Hope died in July of 2003…
Gore was just in SF. Don’t think he will be interested. I think Edwards will be the pick.
Kathleen Sebelius is a very popular governor. A unique team would be forged should be pick her.
Good Point Shirley, it seems that Kathleen’s name is coming up more and more. Certainly one to watch!
Thanks for the comment!
Gore would never accept a vice position. Edwards failed to bring NC to the Dem side of the ledger in 2004, and has been rejected twice as a presidential primary contender – he won’t be picked. Joe Biden has committed major plagiarism in speeches, so he probably won’t be the picked one because that’s so easy to spin into a larger question about his integrity as a whole. Chris Dodd doesn’t have nearly enough visibility. As for Feingold and Webb, they are too powerful within the senate to bring them into the ticket, especially Webb, as he hails from what has historically been a red state.
Looking at your list, the only legit contenders I see are Sebelius and Richardson, although Richardson might be seen as a liability due to being Latino at a time when a lot of people keep screaming about immigration reform (never mind the fact that he is an American citizen – believe me, I live in a red state eight months out of the year, and he’s just viewed as ‘another Mexican’ despite the obvious contrary facts).
I’ll be honest, your list really isn’t good at all.
LOL. Thanks A Day…
Great Points! I certainly never said the list was “good,” just the candidates he may likely choose from (based on his past comments)!
We will know pretty soon…
How about George Lopez?
My pick is Bill Richardson – not for any particular reason other than him seeming likable.
More logically, Sebelius or Clinton would bring back the women voters – but I don’t think we should put a female in just to make people happy if she’s not the right person for the job. (And I don’t fully trust Clinton, even though she finally conceded.)
I hear Webb and Clark thrown around a lot for military experience. One of them might be good.
I like Edwards but he says he’s not interested in VP. (He wants to be attorney general or something.)
Whoever Barack chooses, I’m sure will be the right person though. I trust his judgment or I wouldn’t have voted for him
Obama has decided to set up a war room to battle the bloggers, will this hurt him in the long haul? I can not see us bloggers taking this to lightly! What do you think?

Two words…..Wesley Clark…he;s a clintonista, who is a General for NATO from a Southern Sate, so he balances the ticket nicely. Plus he’s an old white guy so that should take care of the Appalachin faction (who will lose the vote anyway.)
