You may have seen plenty of “grey scale” shots of the recent oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico – currently still pumping 5,000 barrels of oil into the water per day.
This shot is a “natural color, 60 centimeter high-resolution DigitalGlobe QuickBird satellite image” – which you can view in full size here, is the most revealing I’ve seen yet.

If you look very close around the top left, you will see an airplane flying over. That should put it into perspective.
As of this post, the underwater robots had failed to stop the oil flow. (Click “More” to the coverage area).
