Cleaning Elves on “90-Day” Notice

garbage dumpAs I meandered around the house this morning picking up various items left behind by my daughter I realized the cleaning elves are now on notice.

Not by choice mind you, she is going away to college. In addition to all the social aspects she will now learn, she will have to deal with the cleaning elves not making the trip with her and the oddity of items left about will actually remain there until dealt with personally.

We have all been the cleaning elf (or should have been) and, at some point of our life, received the benefit of a cleaning elf. Frankly, I miss them.

Cleaning elves follow closely behind you, but not so close as to be seen, recognized, or appreciated. [Read more...]

Do I Have to Spell it Out? No Deficit Spending!

deficit285Depending on which side you are on, Republicans are seen as radical proponents of separating the classes and Democrats are seen as left-wing nut jobs focused only on helping those that won’t help themselves. Of course the reality is far more intricate.

Both parties are now measured by their “pet projects.” Depending on which side of the fence you are on everything on the other side is just plain stupid. Alas, although the debates at your local Starbucks may be heated and entertaining, all of that conversational “noise” keeps us from addressing the real solution;

Fix the deficit and you have enough money for whatever you want to focus on. [Read more...]

No “Fly Clear” Landing…

Clear285Most people will not notice it gone and many (who didn’t have it) were probably annoyed when they saw it in person but couldn’t use it.

Fly Clear is grounded. Out of business. No More.

Fly Clear was a paid service that allowed you to get through airport secutity lines quicker. Holders of the Fly Clear card went through back ground checks to qualify for the card.

Here is all I have to say: [Read more...]

Arnold Will Have To Come Back

ArnoldSeems hard to believe anyone going to Washington these days is not walking out with some sort of nice “bailout” package. So much money has been handed out that I suspect when Arnold Schwarzenegger waltzed into DC he thought it would be his easiest mission.

Yet, it was not meant to be.

Obama’s administration turned the scariest cyborg back to the west coast without a dime saying, “California needs to work on its budget first.”

What?! Come up with a budget? Account for where money will go or how you will spend it? That is crazy talk!

Don’t worry…

California is the eighth largest economy in the world (sorry Canada) and supposedly the government will consider helping if matters get worse…

Any bets on what will happen next?

No More Zicam? Smells Odd To Me…

Cold Medicine FDA WarningAm I the only one noticing some odd moves by the FDA lately? I don’t know whether to think they are actually doing thier job or if they are getting paid by some new sources.

Case in point, Mattrixx will be taking Zicam off the shelves due to FDA pressure stating a risk of losing your sense of smell. It seems 130-800 people (depending on who you ask) have reported a “loss of smell” after frequent use of Zicam.

The concern is, obviously, these people will not be able to detect smoke, or spoiled food.

Now, there are millions of Zicam users – so my first question is, “Out of millions of people, how many normally lose sense of smell?”

Anyway…here is the official release… [Read more...]

9/11 Mastermind Lied?

Khalid_Shaikh_MohammedTo add to the never ending debate of waterboarding and interrogations, the Los Angeles Times reported that self-proclaimed 9/11 mastermind Khalid Shaikh Mohammed told officials that he had lied to the CIA after being abused.

Khalid was waterboarded 183 times. He said after the abuse he would “make up” stuff. He said he reported innocent people as al Qaeda members as well as said “real” members were in the area when they were not.

So, should we believe the lie, or the lie about the lie? [Read more...]

The Internet Turns 40 – Sorry About My Invention.

Cake285Yea, it was me. I invented the Internet. Forget the Al Gore crud, or the rumors it started in the back rooms of some universities. Nope. It was me.

Sure I was way ahead of myself. I was three-years-old at the time, still trying to refine my communication skills (let alone the whole bathroom thing).

I observed how lame adults were at communicating with each other; let alone a child. Cleary something needed to be done.

In retrospect I should have made a few things different. Perhaps the creation of the Internet by a three-year-old boy may not have set the best foundation for mature growth. Short attention span, the need for continual attention and recognition, and, of course wanting to see what women looked like naked (ok, maybe not at three, but it probably was not far behind).
