Enough Ignoring Already: Chavez Seizes Farms!

farm285I have mentioned in various blogs the truth about Chavez taking over companies Venezuela. I have also mentioned what is not true (that he owns Citgo for one). 

In his latest move, Chavez has seized at least 28,000 acres (about eight farms) saying that “Land isn’t private; it is the property of the nation.” He also said the government will raise output to “curb inflation.” 

He has already nationalized (read “taken over”) companies in rice, cement, electricity, oil, telecommunications, and steel.  He is also close to completing the nationalization of Banco de Venezuela. 

Is anyone else wondering why the world just keeps looking the other way?

Rare 5/7/09, Also Known As Odd Day

For people such as myself that took the mathematical short bus, here is a hint; it has to do with today’s date; 5/7/09. 

So what is so special about it? 

Well, for starters, the date features three consecutive odd numbers.

“Big Deal” you think until you start really trying to find some other dates.  

In actuality, there are only six this century including today. (The next one is 7/9/11)

So, Happy Odd Day and what will be the “oddest” thing you do today?

What? I Can’t Ear You!

All these years have gone by and apparently some forensic historian is going to ruin it for everybody. 

Vincent van Gogh is remembered as the artist who cut off his own ear over a women. As it turns out, it may have actually been fellow painter Paul Gauguin that sliced it off with a sword as the two were arguing. Van Gogh was merely spending the next two years protecting his friend. 

Historians Hans Kaufmann and Rita Wildegans found a few references by van Gogh about a “pact of silence” with Gauguin. 

Maybe they just didn’t want anybody to know something. Who says the “pact of silence” needed to be that van Gogh’s friend cut off the ear? Maybe they just weren’t going to tell anyone who won “Italy’s top Model” or something. Sheesh, thanks for ruining it for us all. 

I wonder if can van Gogh’s artwork isn’t worth as much now?

Muslim Demographics

globeAn interesting video on overall world demographics. I don’t bring this to the table because I see it as a “threat” to ones personal choice (when it comes to religious beliefs), I just find demographics in general interesting.

Of course I think the video is also promoting people run out and have more kids. It would make a great pro-life ad for some cultures (I am kidding, please don’t start sending the hate mail). [Read more...]
