You are NOT “Entitled” so Get Over It

November 19, 2008 by Godfather

I am amazed at the attitudes of people making their way into the workforce today. Frankly, given the current state of the economy I would expect people to be a bit more humble in their job demands.

I spoke with someone the other day that brought up the big “e” word…Entitlement. He actually felt since he finished college he was entitled to a good job with significant benefits.

I think the only people “entitled” to anything are royalty. Years of inbreeding, a careful selection of marriages, and century old rules could make one entitled to be king.

For example, I believe if 6,492 key people simultaneously disappear off the face of the earth I get to be a prince of Whales (not to be confused with the country “Wales”…more like, as opposed to Dolphins) – I am entitled. If just one less person (6,491) disappears; I get a big cup of jack.

Let me see if I can clear up this misnomer for the newcomers to the job force. Here is a list of things you are entitled to and here is a list of things that you are not entitled to. Ready? Here we go…

A. List of things you are entitled to:

B. List of things you are not entitled to (otherwise knows as stuff you will just have to work for):

Everything not in list “A”

Any questions?

A prince, or something in whales??? Are you trying to be like Jonah in the bible and get swallowed by a sea-going mammal??? Or did you mean WALES???
-just a friendly note from Mr Technicality

    On the whole though-
I love the last list…..amazing how succintly common sense can be put in such a complex world we have created for ourselves!!!

Brilliant! I keep trying to figure out when this whole sense of entitlement thing began…………..oh that’s right…………..with the “no child left behind” crap………….*rolling eyes*

My son is dependent on others for his most basic needs in life and even HE was taught by me that just because we have to do these things for him, does NOT give him the right to never say please or thank you. That at any moment we were all free to NOT do a damned thing for him.

Goddess save us from these wusses of today.

Yea Mike, I meant Whales but I guess the joke is a bit too close to Wales. Maybe I should have used Dolphins or something… nothing a quick edit won’t fix…:)

okay, and on the “big cup of jack”… would that be anything like a big cup of joe? If so, I think they’d do well as a consolation prize! Well, as long as I was entitled to a lot of sugar to go with it..otherwise forget it!

Umm, sorry Mike. Jack as in…

“You don’t Jack” or “You ain’t getting Jack”

Not using “Joe’s” anymore after the whole “Joe the Plumber” crud.

Just wait until those that voted for Obama because he was “one of them” which escapes me since he’s bi-racial and the American half of him is a white woman born in Kansas figure out when he says “Yes we can”, he means “You must work”.
