Book Returned 61 Years Late

Ask some people about how long you have to return a checked out library book and I am going to guess 50% of people would say “two weeks.” My guess is another 49% probably don’t even know we have libraries. Apparently there is another 1% that knows the book is late and sends it back no matter how much time has passed.
Martha McCabe Jarrett, who now lives in Florida, checked out a book from Holland Hall High School in 1947 (61 years ago). The book was 22,275 days overdue. She returned the book last week with a check for $250 to cover late fees.

And I thought it took a long time to read War and Peace.




That is great. But now the poor lady is probably going to have to go without her meds this month because she had to pay the late fee.
