Nooooo…It is Too Soon!

October 9, 2008 by Godfather

Here is what greeted me when I went to the Lowe’s hardware store this morning. Yep, not the day after Thanksgiving, not even the day after Halloween - but today, October 8th. I strongly suspect this will ensure I will be way over the holidays before we even get to December…

The news said they were doing this to get people in the holiday spirit early because everyone is going to be in the poor house by December. Although I am not sure displaying Christmas trees in October will put me in a jolly mood. It would be a shame if someone tested a chainsaw from another isle on one of those trees.

Fall. The Holiday Season = Back to school. Halloween. Orange trees. Pumpkins. Thanksgiving. Turkey. Pie. Christmas. Cookies. Stockings. Trees. Gifts.

Christmas is the culmination of all things fall. How can Christmas decorations not inspire?

Welcome joy. Welcome peace. Welcome love. Welcome Fall. We can be depressed in January. LOL

That is what I love about you Helen, always making us look at the bright side when we get too deep!

Looks Like I found my next target for the old childhood hobby of christmas light relocation!

I love the Christmas season for the feelings it brings to me. However……………….this commercialization is way overboard - especially when they start BEFORE Halloween, to hell with before Thanksgiving.

Back in the ’80s I worked in retail and it irritated me than that they started putting out Christmas the day after Halloween.

These days you start seeing signs of it as early as September in some stores and it totally destroys the holiday for me.

It is no longer a holiday of good cheer and good will but a commercial venture to fatten the cash registers of the stores; and feed the greed of the people who seem to have some ungodly need to have everything they see.

I really hate how Christmas has been destroyed.

I love the holidays. My issue really is that when they start putting stuff up so early I am burned out by the time the holidays actually get here…
